A small percent can make a big differenceWe believe it’s very important for businesses, no matter how big or small, to do their bit for the community. So last year we established a non-profit organisation called One Percent for Our Kids. For every product we sell, we donate one percent of our revenue to One Percent (that’s how we got the name) to fund projects to help improve kids’ health, their communities and their environment. We decided that contributing a percentage of our revenue was really important than making a set donation each year. As we grow, we contribute more. And the more we contribute, the more good we can do with the money generated. We thought about basing our contribution on net profits but considered it was too easy for businesses to create the impression they’re giving a lot (say, 10% of net profits), but then manipulate their books so there’s very little net profit, and therefore very little money to do anything with. By basing our contribution on total revenue, we’re constantly giving money to improving kids’ health no matter what amount of sales we’ve done. So every time you buy a Whole Kids product, you’re helping One Percent.
